The Tauranga Boys’ College Community is a vast extended family stretching throughout New Zealand and globally and this community forms an important cornerstone of the college.
Without the support of Parents, Old Boys' and Friends of the College many of the essential projects and facilities the College has would not be possible.
The College celebrated its 50th Reunion late last year and is now committed to reconnecting its historic community that has a great pride in and sense of belonging to, the College. Tauranga Boys’ College is forever conscious of its commitment to the community that has so strongly and passionately supported it over the years.
The establishment of an Old Boys Association will provide the driving force behind strengthening and reconnecting the relationships between past pupils and the College.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the college. |

The Tauranga Boys’ College Old Boys' Association was founded in 2009 by Principal Robert Mangan. The rationale behind forming the Association was to formally reconnect past students of TBC with the TBC of today. Much of the community spirit and comradeship that was fostered during their school years could now be harnessed to benefit the college and its community.

A very busy Term 1 has just been completed & here are some of the highlights...
Academic Excellence
Our Scholarship winners from 2010 (57 individual awards) were recognized at the Scholars Assembly at the end of term where Scholars ties were awarded to those eligible. A new innovation in 2011 is the Scholarship Mentoring programme in which a handful of our top academic students with proven academic records are provided with a broad range of specific opportunities that will further enhance their development. For example Elliott Buckley achieved Scholarship in Physics(Outstanding) & Statistics last year and is looking to join the Air Force as an Engineering Officer & will complete an Honours Engineering degree in Mechatronics. He is being mentored by Old Boy Sir Bruce Ferguson who had a distinguished military career including 4 years as Chief of the NZ Defence Force. A couple of our recent Old Boys have impressive opportunities opening up to them in Academia. Duncan McCann (B.Sc Hons in Physics/Maths from Victoria) has an offer to start a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics at Oxford in October studying molecular magnets & organic superconductors. Duncan has to find $100,000 to fund these studies. Sam Wilson graduated from Auckland University in 2008 with a B. Com. (Finance) & B. Law (Hons.) and was awarded the Senior Law prize. He joined L.E.K. Consulting as an analyst in Sydney – a global consulting firm which has clients among many of the largest firms across the Asia-Pacific region. The firm sponsors employees further study & Sam is considering the possibilities of study at Oxford, Cambridge or Harvard.
